There are many steps between designing your dream home / renovation and breaking ground with a contractor. At RJM, we provide all the architectural services you will need to bring your project to life. Below is our typical process for new projects. Depending on your project size and needs, this process can be tailored specifically for you.
Introduction
Phone call or Zoom meeting to introduce ourselves and have a conversation about your project and design needs.
Initial Site Visit / Consultation
We will come to you. We can go into more specifics about your project, get familiar with the site, and answer any additional questions you may have. During this visit we can also do a survey and document existing conditions to help prepare for the next step.
Programming / Schematic Design
We will put together a program, or set of needs to be sure that we are covering all aspects of your project. With that program in place, we can begin to work out a rough design (or designs) with a goal of solving all needs. We will also begin to research any code or zoning restrictions for your project so that we can address those early on if need be.
Design Development
Once we have an approved design in place, we will start refining your design. While the schematic design was focused more on the overall project, we can now focus more on individual aspects. We can begin to obtain more detailed information from all team members and consultants (ie: engineering, mechanical, electrical, interior design, etc.).
Construction Documents
At this point in the process, we work to finalize the drawings and get them ready for permitting and construction. We will incorporate any final information from consultants in regards to engineering, mechanical, electrical, interior design, etc. to ensure a complete and coordinated set.
Conclusion
Once the design and permitting process are both complete, you are now ready to begin construction on your project. During the construction process we like to remain available to answer and correct any questions or concerns you may have. If changes arise during construction, they can be discussed and addressed to ensure any alterations are compatible with your vision for the project.
